Where They're Found

All eight U.S. regions, and the CDC reports that every state in the contiguous United States has recorded West Nile cases. Three genera matter here and they behave differently: Culex, which carries West Nile and breeds in stagnant water, Aedes, the day-biting container breeder behind dengue and Zika, and Anopheles, the malaria genus.
